Moving is one of the most stressful events in a person's life. We all know that it is a costly event that requires a lot of hard work and planning. For starters, you will spend a lot of money on your moving expenses and you will feel like there is no enough time to do it all. Plus, you need to plan everything so that you do not spend more than you have and that you do everything on time. Not to mention you will be emotionally exhausted, and you will feel all those feelings at the same time; you will feel sad, excited, afraid, nostalgic, etc. The key here is to prepare well and create a moving strategy to complete each moving task accordingly and timely, so that you experience a stress-free removal.

Some of the most stressful and difficult moving tasks are listed below.

1. Informing friends and family of your removal

Whether you are moving for job or other reasons, moving to another place might come as a shock to people who love you. Telling your parents and your closest friends about your removal is a must, but you need to be patient and positive because they are never prepared for such news. If you have children, this announcement might cause tension or conflicts in your home. They are used to their present life and their schedules so it can be hard for them to accept that they have to leave their friends, school, and other and move. Informing people about your removal sounds as an easy and simple task but it really isn't. It is the first step and the beginning of the chaos.

2. Finding a new place

Once you tell your loved ones about your removal, next step is planning and finding the right house or apartment. Finding the perfect home is challenging and time-consuming task. The best thing would be to visit your new city so you can get an idea of your future place. Here, location is the most important factor to focus on. Your home should be located near your workplace, children’s school, hospitals, parks, etc. Your new location should fit your lifestyle so make sure you know where to look. Also, finding a safe and convenient neighbourhood is one of things to think about. You want to live in a safe and friendly community, especially if you have kids.

If you are not able to visit and choose your place before removal, you should opt for temporary housing. This is a great way to get to know the city and explore it before getting a permanent housing. However, you will need to move again. But, it pays off eventually.

3. Finding a moving company

Sure, you can decide to move on your own, but it is recommended that you hire professionals to move your belongings, especially if you are moving long-distance. You will have so many choices but finding the right one can be tricky and stressful. You need to focus on the following:

• do a thorough research. Read moving reviews, testimonials, compare prices, get quotes, ask questions, check with BBB, discuss extra services and fees, etc. eventually, you will choose the one that best suits your requirements.

• avoid rogue movers. The worst thing that could happen to you during removal is to fall victim to moving scams. You need to be very careful because you are giving everything you own into the hands of your movers. The signs of a scam company are:

 no USDOT number

 no recommendations

 rates are too cheap

 no website

 insufficient contact information

 complaints against the company, etc.

4. Making arrangements with a moving company

Once you choose a moving company, you need to go through details of removal. Arrange pick-up and delivery dates, choose services, ask for possible discounts, discuss about the deposit, insurance, etc. Before you sign any document, make sure you understand every word and that the rate is fixed, without any additional charges.

Remember, the fewer things you move, the less money you will pay. Also, if you organize everything nicely, it will be easier for you to unpack later. You should sort things out. First, create a moving checklist and write down the number, type, and location of the items you are relocating. Label boxes so that you know where specifics items can be found. Second, get rid of things that are out-dated, worn, damaged and not needed anymore. Donate them to charity or sell some online. Throw away items that cannot be reused or repaired.

6. Saying goodbye

Leaving your friends and your neighbourhood is always heart-breaking. You need to say goodbye in a proper way. You can throw a party and invite your family, friends and neighbours. You can prepare small gifts so that they think about you when you’re gone. Don’t forget to make plans to meet again. Thanks to the technology, you can text and call your friends every day.
